I know its been a while since my last post… I’ve been pretty busy with work and during that time I also wrecked the install on my desktop computer.
I’d been meaning to back up all my stuff on my desktop system and wipe it, just so that I could adjust the partitioning… no lvm set [...]

I’ve recently been complating something that gets talked about a lot in the Linux world, by which I mean in magazines, on podcasts and blogs etc etc. That subject is mass adoption of Linux by normal computer users. The cliche phrase that is frequently used is “The year of the Linux desktop”.

With help from dsp on the SWLUG IRC channel I managed to reset the password on the Sparc-box (the hostname is sparky, so I’ll call it that from now on…).
I had to edit the file /etc/master.passwd – this wasn’t as easy as I thought though because neither vi or nano wanted to play ball over [...]
